Back Pain

Back pain is one of the most common causes of work related absences in America. 80% of Adult Americans will suffer from back pain at some time in their lives. Back pain is the most common ailment in middle aged workers, those who produce the most man hours to employers. Because of this, the economic impact of back pain is felt across the economy.

Causes of Back Pain
Stress: Stress actually causes the muscles in your body to stiffen up. This stiffness causes soreness in the back.

Physical Work: Low back pain is caused by heavy lifting. Improper lifting is one of the biggest causes of low back pain in the USA.

Weight: As the World sees an obesity epidemic; we also see a corresponding rise in back pain related problems. When the waist and belly increase in mass, the lower back takes the brunt of the weight. It is imperative to have a strong core. When that core is compromised by fat, the back often times “goes out.”

Daily Activity: Believe it or not, daily activity can cause back pain. Usually this type of pain occurs in the upper back and shoulders, but it does happen.

Aging: As we age, our discs begin to tighten. Often times we even have discs slip. It takes the body of older people a little longer to heal, so it is important to get to a chiropractor as soon as possible.

Pittsburgh Chiropractic offers a unique and comprehensive approach to treating your back pain. Whether it is upper back pain or lower pack pain, we can fix the problem.

It is possible that all you need is a chiropractic adjustment. This is a gentle procedure that simply realigns the spine and restores joint function.

Lower back treatment
Trigger Point Therapy is another option. Like a chiropractor massage, this therapy uses pressure to different parts of your body to relax the muscles.

We also teach our clients a proper stretching program to help reduce pain in movements. Stretching can increase flexibility and reduce back pain.

Upper back treatment
Upper back pain can be treated using various methods. However, Spinal Manipulation is one of the best methods to relieve upper back pain. We can realign the upper spine, joints and ribs to eliminate this pain.
